When things break down in our homes, we all face that familiar dilemma: should we attempt to fix it ourselves or call in a professional? I vividly remember having those same thoughts when issues arose in my house after moving from Switzerland to Canada 24 years ago. As a young man, money was tight, and I had to adapt to the Canadian way of doing things.

Back in Switzerland, I had the privilege of learning a trade, but the transition to a new country required some adjustments. Despite the challenges, the lack of funds made the decision easier—I became my own handyman. On this blog and website, I’ll share tools and tips to help you complete repairs and even tackle some home renovation projects.

Of course, not everything should be attempted solo (definitely avoid anything gas-related!). However, there are plenty of repairs you can confidently handle. Additionally, every homeowner should prioritize essential maintenance tasks, and I’ll guide you through some of those as well.

For the husbands and single guys out there, I’ll include home education features. Learn how to iron, clean properly, and handle other tasks around the house—skills your mom likely mastered while you were busy watching sports on TV.

Stay tuned—the first blog post is coming soon!
